Sunday Evening, June 16th, 2019 - Getting the Job Done - Pastor Jared Shumate

Nehemiah and the Jews were making progress on the walls of Jerusalem. And word had spread. People began to hear the news. And out came the naysayers.

Sandballat and Tobiah came by, the original Debbie Downer and Negative Nancy. They began mocking the Jews, asking their snarky and sarcastic questions, making fun of the work being done. But Nehemiah and the workers ignored the criticism, and got the job done.

As a church, and as individual Christians, we are going to face a lot of the same negativity that Nehemiah and the Jews faced. People are going to mock us and ask their sarcastic, demeaning questions. Do we have what it take to get the job done?

Nehemiah 4:1-2

1But it came to pass, that when Sanballat heard that we builded the wall, he was wroth, and took great indignation, and mocked the Jews. 2And he spake before his brethren and the army of Samaria, and said, What do these feeble Jews? will they fortify themselves? will they sacrifice? will they make an end in a day? will they revive the stones out of the heaps of the rubbish which are burned?
