When God Delays, Part 1 (Psalm 13:1-6)

Pastor Justin Pratt, October 19, 2014
Part of the Miscellaneous series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

We all have a timetable for our lives; a personal schedule we have set for our own plans. We have it all planned out. When we will get married. When we will have kids. When we will receive healing. It's our schedule and our plan.

But then there's God's plan. There's His schedule. And it may not align with our own.

But what do we do when God's plan does not align with our plan? What do we do when God's answer to our prayer is "no" or "wait" (which, if we are honest, "wait" is sometimes a harder answer than "no" because there is no finality to it). David faced this issue in Psalm 13. He cried out to God "how long" multiple times. He knew the struggle.

So what can we do When God Delays? Listen as Pastor Justin takes us through Part 1 of this sermon.

Psalm 13:1-6

1How long wilt thou forget me, O LORD? for ever? how long wilt thou hide thy face from me? 2How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? how long shall mine enemy be exalted over me? 3Consider and hear me, O LORD my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death; 4Lest mine enemy say, I have prevailed against him; and those that trouble me rejoice when I am moved. 5But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation. 6I will sing unto the LORD, because he hath dealt bountifully with me.
