Lengthening Cords and Strengthening Stakes (Isaiah 54:1-2)

Pastor Justin Pratt, January 3, 2016
Part of the Miscellaneous series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

Christmas is over. You've probably put away your decorations. The ball has dropped. 2015 is over. And we've entered into the New Year, back into our normal routine. So what does the new year hold for you? What does it hold for Valley View Baptist Church?

This morning we reflected on some of the highlights of 2015 at Valley View and looked forward to what 2016 has in store. Pastor Justin showed us what it takes for us to lengthen our cords and strengthen our stakes.

If we are going to be the church that God intends for us to be we are going to have to cooperate with one another to expand our boundaries and reach, carrying out the Great Commission as we have been commanded. And by God's conviction we can strengthen our personal stakes and roots. We have to ground ourselves in His Word, by our personal walk, so that we as individuals can come together to anchor Valley View.

Isaiah 54:1-2

1Sing, O barren, thou that didst not bear; break forth into singing, and cry aloud, thou that didst not travail with child: for more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife, saith the LORD. 2Enlarge the place of thy tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of thine habitations: spare not, lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes; (KJV)
